SCHOOL UNIFORM
The uniform is determined by the Governors and is reviewed from time to time. The school uniform has been selected to:
- give students a real pride in their appearance and in their school;
- train students in presenting themselves as smartly as possible;
- enable students to dress well, irrespective of their home economic circumstances, in clothes that are cheaply available, yet practical and hard-wearing.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
It is the responsibility of all school staff to ensure the uniform rules are upheld.
It is the responsibility of all students to be Ready for Learning, this includes wearing correct uniform.
It is the responsibility of all parents and carers to support their child to be Ready for Learning, this includes ensuring correct uniform is bought and worn. Parents and carers are responsible for updating school about any issues that mean their child cannot wear full uniform and to work with school to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Form tutors should perform a uniform check daily and record any issues via Classcharts. Repeated uniform infringements will be recorded as a ‘Uniform' negative on Classcharts. The Pastoral Team will follow up ongoing issues with uniform with students and their parents.
CONTEXT
No uniform can prescribe every detail. It is hoped that parents and students will try to follow the spirit of the regulations as well as the letter.
All uniform items and other equipment should be clearly marked with the student's name.
All items of school uniform and PE kit are stocked by Rawcliffes Ltd, East Parade, Harrogate and Ripon Uniform Shop, 64 Blossomgate, Ripon. Parents are able to buy all branded uniform items from these stockists. However, some of the more general items are also available from other clothing stores in the area.
If there are any doubts, it is useful to ring the school before an item is bought, or call in to the School Office to see the complete uniform. This would be especially useful to do before purchasing girls' trousers from shops other than the school suppliers as girls' trousers are not so easily available in the approved tailored style.

The uniform comprises the following:
- A school blazer with logo (available from Stockists only)
- black tailored trousers

EXEMPTION
Very rarely, a specific exemption to an item of uniform requirement may be applied for. This is not usually granted for any reason other than on medical grounds, in which case written application should be made to the Headteacher. Other requests on religious or compassionate grounds should be made through the Headteacher to the Local Governing Body.
