Is my child eligible for free school transport?

NYC provide free school transport to Nidderdale High School if it is the nearest school to your home and is over 3 miles walking distance away or where the route to the school is not safe to walk.  NYC will automatically assess student’s eligibility and will send a bus pass to your home address by 30th May if you are eligible.

What time are the buses?

The Transdev No 24 bus runs daily from Harrogate via Birstwith – Passes can be purchased directly from Trans Dev.  Access to information about daily, weekly, monthly and annual passes can be found here Home (transdevbus.co.uk)

Can I drive my child to school?

Paid bus passes

If a student is not entitled to free school transport, bus passes are available to purchase for £1500 for the academic year 2026/2027.

All students (both current and new students) are required to make an application.  Please click on the relevant application form below. 

New students to Nidderdale High School:

Complete a Direct Debit Mandate and Conditions of Use (available on this page).  

The Direct Debit mandate needs to be signed either manually or with a E-signature before returning (typing your name onto the mandate is not acceptable). 

Conditions of Use – this document needs completing to show pupil's name, bus stop they wish to be picked up from and signed by Parent/Carer.

Both the Direct Debit Mandate and the Conditions of Use need to be scanned and emailed to: hometoschooltransport@nidderdale.mlt.co.uk or posted to J Spedding, Nidderdale High School, Low Wath Road, Pateley Bridge, Harrogate, HG3 5HL, or hard copy handed into the School Reception before 22nd May 2026.
